I think it would have been the 3H pencils at A.C. Moore last week. And stop laughing! I’m taking this online drawing class, 3H pencils are a requirement, and anything art-related is FUN!

Kung Pao tofu. Used to be Kung Pao chicken before I went vegetarian. Love the spiciness and the peanuts!

How much have you controlled the course your life has taken?
Looking back, I’d have to say not a whole lot. I made choices at different forks in the road of life, but I’m not sure that would be considered “control.” To use a metaphor, I’m steering my ship, but the Universe seems to have control of the environment in which I’m traveling.

Whose opinion do you value when deciding how to vote?
Pretty much just my own.

The book nearest me (out of at least a dozen within reaching distance) is Rachel Caine’s Thin Air. Here’s what comes up:

Not hurt? She had to be kidding. I rolled slowly on my side and worked my way up to a sitting position, bracing myself with my arms.

Darn. I love Caine’s books, and I sorely want to read this one NOW. But I have to finish #3 in the series first. (Thin Air is #6. Yes. I know. But if you read my book blog, you’ll know I read #4 and #5 already, and #3 was caught in some black hole at Booksfree.) Oh, and I have two books to finish reading for class, too. And I want to finish Nobody’s Fool before I release it for the nice Bookcrosser I promised I’d release it for. Priorities, priorities.

But first, Boy-Cat thinks he needs more food (he doesn’t) and I need more sleep. I must disabuse him of his silly notions, and fetch me up some slumber.

Who would you cast in your ideal romantic comedy?
Brendan Frasier and Sarah Michelle Geller. Yes, a weird combination. But seriously… it could work!

What is your favorite new millennium love ballad?
I don’t have a favorite love ballad for the new millennium. While I could pick Josh Groban as a favorite singer of love ballads for the new millennium, my favorite song by him would be O Holy Night, which isn’t exactly a long song.

What’s your opinion on public displays of affection? Where does the line get drawn between acceptable and gross?
Oh, just get a room. Holding hands is fine, I have no problem with that. But sucking face is better done in private. And those heterosexual couples are way worse than the gays and lesbians, I don’t care what the Religious Right says.

What do you think of giving gifts to family members on Valentine’s Day? Did you get gifts or candy from your parents as a child?
I never got Valentine’s Day gifts from anyone as a child. Is this a recent phenomenon, or was my family even more dysfunctional than I remember? I think there’s too much gift giving going on in our culture and not enough loving and caring going on. Just my opinion.

Love and cuddles are great and all, but what sentimental gesture makes you want to throw up?
I can’t recall any sentimental gesture that’s made me want to throw up. Apparently, I’ve only ever dated sensible people. Which is not a bad thing, by the way.

How often do you get sick with a cold? The flu? Something else?
Not often, really. Once a year maybe.

Are you the sort of person who goes to work or school no matter how sick you are, or are you willing to stay at home when it gets bad?
I used to play the martyr and go to work no matter what. Now, though… if I’m sicking, I’m staying home. I get to rest, so I feel better sooner, and my coworkers thank me for not sharing all my germs.

How do you like to treat a cold? What remedies do you like and why?
I dose myself up with lots of garlic… liquid garlic in capsules… and extra Vitamin C. If I find I can’t breathe at night, I’ll resort to NyQuil. I don’t like to take it because it makes me feel groggy all morning, plus it gives me bizarre dreams that I (unfortunately) tend to remember.

What do you do to keep from getting sick in the winter?
Eat healthy, take my vitamins, wash my hands a lot, and try to stay out of sneezing and coughing range of sick people.

What is your favorite thing to do when you stay home from work or school?
Sleep!
